The Late Christmas Decor Post

So this is obviously a way late post that I started not to even do but decided oh well!  I took the pics a month ago with intentions of posting them so why not.  I like to post them here anyway because it's an easy go to place when Christmas decorating comes around again and I need to look back at how I did something the previous year.  I always feel like nothing really goes together since I have no theme but still like how it all turns out!

Wasn't sure what I was going to do at first but loved how my wreath and table decor turned out.

Found the frame on clearance at Hobby Lobby, lightly sanded it, spray painted it & wiped off before drying.

Purchased a couple of our initial letters and wasn't sure what I would be doing with them.  Ended up spray painting gold and light layer of red glitter and placed in the tree. 

...and with all the decor and beauty of Christmas I love having things out that remind us of the true meaning and reason behind it all.

Decorating for the Christmas Season

Last week I got all my Christmas decorating done, at least I think!  I bought ribbon to make a new bow for our tree but I'm already thinking I'll do that next year.  The Christmas decor is a little bit of this and a little  bit of that in my house.  I don't have a whole lot of room but still buy a few things every year to add to the decor.  This year we had to buy a new tree.  Chris suggested wanting a 9 foot tree so we went with that.  I'm still not sure I'm crazy about the taller tree in my living room but I suppose the husband should get what he wants sometimes too, lol!  I did let him know already that when I take the tree down this year I'll be getting rid of a lot of the mixed ornaments and only keep special memory ones because next year I am finally going to do a themed tree.  I've wanted to for years but feel like I don't have room for another small tree anywhere to put special ornaments on.  I guess come next year I'll figure out how to make it work!

Back in October Kirklands had a Santa Canvas that I really wanted, of course when I got ready to buy it they didn't have anymore.  So this is the one Chris picked out as his favorite. I had forgotten about getting the picture he liked best too!

The kids always can't wait to put the ornaments on the tree.  Maybe I should say the two youngest ones really.  Haiden and Ryan don't get so excited about it anymore, or at least they don't show it!  They always look for ornaments they have made to hang first which makes it really difficult to get rid of any, lol.  Then no matter who it is they all want to stretch as high as they can to hang the ornaments towards the top of the tree.  Needless to say I always do some rearranging once we're done!

A favorite ornament, because of course no matter how much fun or pretty decorating is, it's this very simple reason that this time of year even exist.  Jesus came and gave himself that we may have life more abundantly if we will but choose to live it for Him.  May you be blessed to give to others during this season!

Fall Is Here

Fall is such a lovely time of the year!  It's a season that brings changes and somehow just makes life seem fresh during this time.  In fall and spring I tend to change things around my house, and I always start to exercise only to stop once the weather gets too cold or too hot after spring.  Also for the past few years we have 40 days of fire at our church during October denying our flesh of different things each week, focusing on daily prayer, and specified reading material which no doubt in all creates a renewed fresh focus on God.  With all this being said I suppose it's why I feel like fall brings freshness to life!

In making this post I realize it's been almost a year since my last post just after Thanksgiving.  I just don't have it figured out how to keep my blog up to date with life being so busy.  I would love to keep it updated more regularly because I think of it as scrap booking happenings in our life as time goes by.  I know that as days pass I can always go back to my blog and go down memory lane, and one day my kids will grow up and probably enjoy looking back at some things here too.  I really think blogging is better than scrap booking because there is more to be said.  No matter how much or how little I make post here I never intend on deleting my blog for the main purpose of looking back over life whenever I wish!

I finally got all my fall decor out last weekend and I just love the colors!  Green is my favorite color but when it comes down to what surrounds me, brown and tan tones making that warm feeling is what I revert to in decorating and this is why I think I love fall decor so much.  I guess it's what I'm comfortable with!  I used most of my fall things from last year while adding a few new things from ideas I got from pinterest.

Burlap Wreaths

A few months back I started looking on Pinterest at different wreaths because I wanted to make one for Fall.  A friend had a wreath on her door made with burlap and I just thought it was so fitting for Fall.  So the more I looked on Pinterest I found a wreath I knew I wanted to make.  At first I thought it might be tedious, but in the end it was really easy.  I was very pleased with my Fall wreath, and liked it so much I knew I would be making another one with the lighter color burlap for Christmas.  At first I wasn't sure what I was going to put together for decor on the wreath, but once I got in Hobby Lobby I was able to pull together what I thought would go well.  If your interested in how to make these visit Becoming Martha.  I like how her burlap looks more loose, and it looks like she used a smaller wreath which is really cute also.

Our Thanksgiving

This year we did not travel home for Thanksgiving which is always kinda sad.  Our families live in Jasper, TX, about 7 hours from us.  However, it always seems to take us 8 to 10 hours to get there when we go back home, lol!  So once we decided to stay at our place we tossed the idea of cooking a big Thanksgiving dinner back and forth, and ended up going for it.  Everything turned out pretty good, or as my husband said, "it was AWESOME."  I managed to get a few pictures of some of the things I made, but it was just all too busy to get all the pictures needed. I will be posting the recipes I used on Isom Cookings & Sweet Spots.  It was nice to have Chris' parents come up to be with us on Thanksgiving, and we tried to convince our neighbors to join us.  There is always more than enough food at this time of year and there is just something special about getting together with people no matter who they are!

We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Wanted to share some of our Christmas pictures. Every since I was a little girl my mom always took our picture in front of the tree every year at Christmas time and I have taken on that tradition as well. I really wanted to get Christmas cards made with the kids picture but it just seems that I have not been able to get everything done here lately and that I'm falling behind on stuff.
